How to fit a horse blanket

Last week while I was brushing down my mare, I noticed I was barely brushing anything but skin on her chest. With a better look and a little investigation, I realized her blanket was rubbing her hair off. I had never been great at sizing blankets, and I realized now that I really sucked. So, how do you figure out what size your horse needs and how do you confirm that it fits well? Follow these quick steps and you'll be better than I am in no time (but that's not saying much).

Using a tape measure (be aware that your horse may spook at the noise!) or piece of string, measure your horse from the center of it's chest (the "crack" between the two muscles) along it's side (across the shoulder) and to the edge of it's tail. This is the size of your blanket. Easy as pie!

Or if you're more of a visual person...
